Appellate Specialist at Trial

Roach Newton has a well-deserved reputation as top tier appellate specialists at trial.  Randy Roach began providing appellate expertise at trial to defendants in the mid-1980’s, starting out as Appellate Punitives Counsel for Pittsburgh Corning in asbestos trials.  After several years of being the law lawyer on trial teams, a medical malpractice insurer tapped Randy as their designated appellate specialist at trial in cases presenting significant excess judgment exposure for this physician insureds.  It was this experience, where the great majority of those cases settled after Randy had identified, developed and presented potential reversal issues at trial, that spurred Randy to make this appellate lawyer at trial practice a primary feature of his practice. Since the 1990s, Randy has presented CLE programs on this practice and taught this practice in his Appellate Advocacy class at the University of Texas School of Law and the University of Houston Law Center.
